The Personal Me

Joe is an avid sports fan, especially when it comes to Alabama football, Cavaliers’ basketball, and baseball. In fact, sports have had a tremendous influence on Joe’s life since he was very young. A talented high school athlete and recipient of a college baseball scholarship, his world centered around sports. Unfortunately, his college baseball career was cut short by a torn bicep tendon and labrum, forcing him to quickly reevaluate his future. Despite his deep disappointment, he came to the realization that playing sports was not the be-all and end-all, and if he tapped into the same level of perseverance that had played such central role in his sports career, he could define and pursue an equally fulfilling direction going forward.

Joe believes that one of the smartest moves he made was aligning himself with a great mentor. “Not only have I grown professionally from that relationship, but personally,” Joe said. “I took a chance when I was a young professional and it was well worth the risk. It taught me the importance of developing one’s Core Values and living each day with those values at the forefront of your mind.” Grateful for the time, guidance and wisdom his mentor shared with him over the years, Joe continues to “pay it forward” by mentoring students at his former high school.

When Joe's not working, he enjoys spending quality time with his son, Norris.

Little known fact:
Rogers is only a third-generation surname for Joe’s family. The family’s original surname, Radziewicz, was abruptly changed by his great-grandmother upon hearing that his grandfather, who was serving in the military at the time, was best known by the moniker, “Sergeant Alphabet.”
